Dream Eater

Dream Eater (2025)
The full title in some of the marketing is Eli Roth Presents: Dream Eater. The movie was written and directed by Justin Hewitt-Drakulic, Mallory Drumm, and Alex Lee Williams. Mallory and Alex star in the movie as well.

Star Rating: 2.5 out of 5 | Rent on Prime Video

Alex has been having sleepwalking episodes that have become increasingly violent. On the advice of his doctor, Alex and his girlfriend Mallory take a trip to a snow-covered cabin in the woods. Mallory is tasked with using video to document Alex during the trip as a way of finding answers about his parasomnia, but the answers Mallory finds are much darker than she expected.

The found footage/pseudo-documentary scares in Dream Eater are okay, but the script is too heavy-handed with exposition. Also, the dialogue feels incredibly unnatural in both the writing and the delivery. That makes it hard to buy into the believability of the footage we’re watching, which is supremely important in a found-footage movie. Dream Eater isn’t bad, it’s just very average.
