A Very Scary Sequel is Now Streaming on Netflix
“If you tell anyone, we’ll hurt you first, and then your whole family, and we’ll watch the film over and over and over.”

Horror fans love to debate what the scariest movie ever made is but the closest we’ll ever get to an objective answer is a study that measured audience heart rates while watching a variety of movies. That study showed that Sinister (2012) is the scariest movie of all time because it raised audience heart rates the most. Not only is Sinister scary on it’s own, but it’s sequel, Sinister 2 (2015), keeps the scares going. Now, Sinister 2 is now streaming on Netflix.
In the first Sinister, true crime writer Ellison Oswalt (Ethan Hawke) moves his unsuspecting family into a murder house in order to better research a gruesome crime. However, a supernatural element emerges as Oswalt discovers the presence of a pagan deity named Bughuul who causes children to murder their families. By moving into the home, Oswalt has sealed his family’s fate.
In Sinister 2, a single mother and her two sons move into a different murder house. As Bughuul appears to her boys, the mother deals with threats from her abusive ex. A sheriff’s deputy who has been researching Bughuul’s murders tries to help the family as they battle danger on all fronts.
The scariest part of Sinister is the videos of all of the family murders caused by Bughuul. Sinister 2 continues this by showing even more upsetting family murders — including a family who were nailed to a church floor by their hands and feet to allow rats to eat through their abdomens. This movie isn’t for fans who prefer their horror movies on the lighter side.
Sinister 2 is now streaming on Netflix.
