A Hostel That Used to Be a Mental Asylum Is Haunted by a Vengeful Spirit in '418', Now Playing in Limited Theaters

418 is an Indian horror movie that sources say (India Today – Oct. 23, 2026) was almost too scary for the Central Board of Film Certification in India. But it’s out now, and it’s playing in select theaters worldwide.

The story of 418 focuses on Vivek, a young man heading off to a remote medical school. He’s staying in a hostel while enrolled, but begins having spooky experiences in his new home. Vivek and his roommate Rohith are staying next to room 418, a room that is locked and completely off-limits to students. Perhaps the room, and the fact that the hostel used to be a mental asylum, have something to do with the ghostly presence haunting Vivek.

418 was written and directed by Kirtan Nadagouda, with additional dialogue written by Mohan B.S. and Preetham Shankar Sharma. Surya Raj Veerabathini stars as Vivek.

418 is currently playing in limited theaters in the U.S.
