Smile 3 Is Happening, and Parker Finn Is Handing the Director's Chair to David Bruckner

Smile 3 is officially on the way, with David Bruckner taking over as director.

Parker Finn wrote and directed Smile and Smile 2. He also wrote and directed the short film the Smile movies were based on, “Laura Hasn’t Slept.” But Parker Finn is now busy writing and directing a remake of 1981’s Possession, so Paramount has chosen David Bruckner to direct Smile 3 instead.

Bruckner’s credits include Hellraiser (2022), The Night House (2020), and The Ritual (2017).

Nick Antosca will write Smile 3. Antosca’s previous writing credits include Verity (2026), Antlers (2021), and the 2026 Cape Fear series. He was also the creator of the series Channel Zero (2016), and he co-created the series Brand New Cherry Flavor (2021).

Parker Finn will remain on board as a producer for Smile 3, and he pitched the initial structure of the story. No plot details or release dates have been revealed yet.

Finn’s next movie, Possession, is scheduled for release on June 11, 2027.
