Danny Trejo will play a unique feline character named Meowchette in the upcoming horror comedy Stoned Inn.

Trejo has hundreds of credits to his name, and his roles as a voice actor have been picking up quite a lot over the past few years. His voice is unmistakable, after all.

If you didn’t know or forgot, Trejo starred in the Machete movies, which came about because of the Machete trailer in Grindhouse, which was inspired by Trejo’s character Isador “Machete” Cortez in the Spy Kids movies. So, “Meowchette” is obviously a punny reference.

Meowchette is part of what sounds like a ridiculous and fun movie. There’s no trailer yet, but there is a web site themed like the desktop of a Windows 98 computer (stonedinn.com). You can play games, check out the cast list, leave a note in the guest book, and much more. It’s a neat way to promote the film.

The story of Stoned Inn will focus on a burned-out stoner who enters a contest to spend seven nights in a haunted house. He’s forced to consume a different strain of weed each day, which leads to unpredictable results.

The press release describes it as a “wild, hilarious, and terrifying ride,” and mentions “authentic, practical indie horror grit,” which gets the hopes up about what we possibly will and won’t see in the movie and its effects.

Stoned Inn is from filmmakers Key Tawn Toothman and Naythan Smith in their directorial debut. The cast includes Maximum James, Diahni Domebo, Jessa Flux (Onlyfangs, Debbie Does Demons), Danny Trejo (Machete, From Dusk Till Dawn), and Chris Casamassa, who played Scorpion in the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie.
