Somebody made a video game based on Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil. Well, it’s more of a demo or proof-of-concept unofficial fan tribute to Zach Cregger’s movie.
The title is “Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil: The Videogame,” and to be clear, it is a completely unofficial fan game. It’s from Stefano Cagnani, an indie developer who goes by Steven Games Studios, and who has made other fan games inspired by movies like Dawn of the Dead (1978), Duel (1971), Psycho (1960), Screamers (1995), The Crow (1994), Cannibal Holocaust (1980), Halloween (1978), and many more.

Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil: The Videogame can be completed in about ten minutes, and it adapts the first part of the movie. It puts players in control of Bryan as he drives towards Raccoon City, up until he’s about to enter the house.
The game is styled to look and feel like a PS1-era video game, and you can try it out for yourself by searching for “Stefano Cagnani V3” and/or the game’s title on itch . io.
It’ll never happen, but it would be fun if Capcom had Stefano Cagnani make a full game, and then do a limited edition PS1 re-release of Resident Evil 2 with this game as the third disc.
The game and the movie don’t and can’t co-exist in the exact same continuity, but it would still be fun.
