Silence Of The Yams

Misery meets Mommy Dearest.

Hey Creepy Catalogers,

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you’re enjoying some of your favorite Thanksgiving horror movies. Here’s the best of what you’ll find streaming across the internet this weekend:

Best of Netflix:

Calibre. A dark thriller about two friends on a hunting trip. After an accident, they engage in a coverup. As you can guess, it doesn’t end well.

Best of Hulu:

Run. A long-awaited Hulu original with Sarah Paulson and Kiera Allen about a mother and and her disabled, homeschooled daughter. The daughter notices a discrepancy in her medication and begins to suspect her mother might have Munchausen syndrome by proxy. It’s kind of Misery meets Mommy Dearest.

This is loosely based on the Gypsy Blanchard case. If you are unfamiliar, I highly recomend getting lost in the details of this case. You can start here: Terrifying Facebook Post Leads To Discovery Of Brutally Murdered Mother And Her Missing, Disabled Daughter.

Also, justice for Gypsy.

Best of Prime:

Frailty. Streaming on Prime is one of the best scary movies of all time. Matthew McConaughey stars as the son of a father (Bill Paxton) who believes God spoke to him and told him to kill “demons” who look like everyday people. All grown up, he visits the FBI to tell them about his childhood with his father and the brother he believes is now a serial killer.

This is an awesome horror movie to watch with your family or friends who might not be die-hard horror fans. It’s light on gore and is just gripping, top-notch storytelling!
