Will ‘Terrifier 4’ be the last ‘Terrifier’ film?
Franchise creator Damien Leone has said he wants to make sure to end the series in a deliberate way.
Get your barf bags ready, Terrifier 4 is officially happening! Last month writer-director Damien Leone confirmed that the fourth installment in the Terrifier franchise is in development.
Previously the franchise creator said he wanted to make sure to end the series in a deliberate way: “My big fear is of going on too long and wearing out my welcome… Because that does happen to all of my favourites. Almost always it happens to the slasher franchises where they make 10 of them. I want to have a solid franchise, whether it be a trilogy – or maybe a quadrilogy if I have one more in mind – where it starts, where it ends, and you can walk away with a satisfying conclusion and closure and say that was pretty cool.”
In an interview with SFX, Damien Leone says that he already knows what the end of the Terrifier franchise will be: “I have the whole story mapped out. I had it mapped out since part two, honestly, which is huge. Knowing where you’re going to end it is probably the hardest thing and I figured out the ending to this a while ago.” As far as whether Terrifier 4 will conclude the saga, the writer-director told Fangoria: “Can I fit it in one more movie, or is it maybe going to take me two movies before I get there?”
We previously wrote about what Leone has said about how he sees the meta story of the Terrifier franchise and how it will end while speculating about Terrifier 3. It seems like it is too early in the writing process of Terrifier 4 to know whether this will be the final Terrifier film. If the remaining story is too much for one film, it is entirely possible we will see a Terrifier 5.
