Prime Video’s Carrie is getting a 2nd season, giving Mike Flanagan and Stephen King room to take Carrie White’s story past the prom and beyond King’s 1974 novel.
“From the beginning, we imagined a story that goes far beyond the prom, and I’m incredibly grateful for Stephen’s trust and support in exploring what comes next,” Flanagan said. He’s the series’ showrunner, and both he and King serve as executive producers.

Summer H. Howell plays Carrie, whose father’s death sends her from a sheltered home into public high school. As her telekinetic abilities emerge, she’s subjected to bullying that spreads online. Samantha Sloyan plays her fiercely protective mother, Margaret.
Amazon MGM Studios’ head of global television, Peter Friedlander, said the adaptation has reached longtime King readers alongside younger and international audiences, with female viewers a particular strength.
King is also involved in shaping the continuation. “I can’t wait for audiences to get to see what’s down the road for Carrie White. Mike Flanagan and I are excited about what comes next. It’s bound to be thrilling,” he said.
