Larry Fessenden has been a stalwart presence in the U.S. independent film scene for decades. Back in the mid-90s, he wrote, directed, and starred in an indie vampire movie titled Habit. In the movie, he played a character named Sam who meets a mysterious woman with a vampiric secret.

In 2019 Fessenden wrote and directed a movie titled Depraved, which is a modern version of a Frankenstein movie. In that film, a man named Alex is killed, and his brain is put into a sewn-together monster called Adam.

And then in 2023, Blackout was released. That was Larry Fessenden’s take on a Wolf Man movie. It stars Alex Hurt as Charley, an artist who is planning to end everything when he suspects that he is a werewolf.

All of those movies were inspired in large part by the classic Universal monsters, and in Universal Monster Mash fashion, Fessenden has created a film that brings all three of his monsters together.
Trauma or, Monsters All tells a story about a writer who publishes a story about strange occurrences in the town of Talbot Falls (where Blackout takes place, and a direct reference to the Universal Wolf Man). The spotlight on the town ends up bringing Charley, Adam, and Sam together, even though they would all rather stay hidden.
Trauma or, Monsters All began playing in a very small number of theaters on November 4th. It is scheduled for a VOD release later this month.
