The Lost Boys are Back in Town
Just added to Netflix: “One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach; all the damn vampires.”
Hey Creepy Catalogers,
Welcome to 2022! I hope it’s filled with hidden gems and twist-endings that actually shock you.
Netflix has added a handful of new horror movies to its selection for January including one of my favorite horror movies from 2020: 1Br. They also added teen slasher I Know What You Did Last Summer, which has a really interesting (and tragic) backstory, and its sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. They hold up! If you’re looking for something high quality, I spent my Christmas vacation watching movies and the ones I enjoyed the most were Swallow (2019) and The Lobster (2015).
Here’s what I’m streaming this weekend:
The Lost Boys. Streaming on Netflix. The iconic 1987 horror comedy was just added back to the service this week. “One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach; all the damn vampires.”
Stay Close. Streaming on Netflix. A new limited thriller series about four people haunted by secrets from their past. The trailer has me hooked.
Vicious Fun. One of the best horror movies streaming on Shudder. A social outcast horror nerd accidentally attends a 12-step group for serial killers. As the title promises, it’s fun!
This week in horror:
- Everything added to Netflix in January.
- There’s a trailer for the new season of Ozark which will hit Netflix on Jan 21.
- The best horror movies streaming on Shudder.
- RIP to legendary actress Betty White, who carried the 1999 horror movie Lake Placid.
- Nosferatu turns 100! That’s an old ass movie!
Creepy reads:
- I revisited the world of candy-coated murder in 1999’s Jawbreaker and it totally lives up. Learn it. Live it. Love it.
- Friday the 13th Screenwriter Victor Miller won the rights to the script from Sean S. Cunningham. To be honest, I don’t really know what that means, but if you love inside baseball as much as I do this seems like an interesting k-hole to wander into.
- Is I Know What You Did Last Summer based on a true story?
Happy streaming and stay spooky!
