Fortnite is one of the most popular games in the world. Millions of people play it every day. And now those players will have a new character to play as: Nikki Freeman.
Played by Inde Navarrette in Obsession (one of the most popular movies of 2026), Nikki is kind of the face of horror this year. So it makes sense that Fortnite, which has put more than a few horror characters into its game, would want to collaborate and capitalize on Nikki’s popularity.
However, some people online aren’t very happy about this collaboration. The gist of their argument is that Nikki is a victim whose autonomy is taken away in the movie, therefore it’s in bad taste to include her in such a way that anyone who plays the game can also control her.

On the other side of the argument, many people point out that Nikki isn’t a real person, she is a popular horror character that many people like a LOT, and there are already fictional killers and fictional characters who suffered abuse who are available to play as in Fortnite. Also, Inde Navarrette herself seems pretty stoked about being in the game.
For those interested, here’s what I know about Nikki in Fortnite.
Starting October 21, players can purchase a bundle that will include Nikki as a playable character, along with a few other Obsession-related items. Her “Back Bling” (aka backpack) is a One Wish Willow, her pickaxe looks like the broken bottle from the party scene in the movie, and she has an emote taken from the restaurant scene where she says “no, no, no, no” over and over (in the game she uses cards with the word “no” written on them). She also has a secondary “splatter” look that recreates the blood on her face from the party scene, though the blood is a dark, non-red color from what I’ve seen. Oh yeah, and her idle animation is her iconic frown.
Also, as I understand it, the Nikki player character is age-restricted, so if she is used in a setting where the age restrictions are below the threshold, other players will just see a default character model instead of Nikki.
