In Our Blood

In Our Blood
Brittany O’Grady stars as Emily.

Star Rating: 3 out of 5

Released digitally December 2, 2025 | Rent on Amazon

After receiving a letter from her estranged mother, Emily travels to Las Cruces, New Mexico to spend Thanksgiving with her. There is a lot of pain involved in this unexpected reunion, so Emily recruits her filmmaking friend Danny to accompany her so they can make a documentary of the trip, and so she can have a way of avoiding dealing with her complex emotions head-on. The night after they meet up, Emily’s mother disappears. As Emily and Danny investigate, they find themselves being drawn into incredible danger that gets more bizarre with each new revelation.

In Our Blood
Danny (E.J. Bonilla) tries to calm things down when they start to spiral out of control.

In Our Blood is presented as a found-footage mystery with a desolate neo-noir feel. The first three quarters of the movie set up an interesting mystery with complex emotional stakes. There is also some solidly-structured commentary about addiction and recovery, and their relation to a person’s environment. But the big reveals that happen in the final act are sure to lose some viewers. The horror elements are really only felt in this final section of the movie, and the way they are handled feels somewhat clunky. It’s a fun reveal, but it also undercuts some of the drama that had been building throughout the earlier sections of the film. It’s not bad though, and In Your Blood is recommended for fans of dark and mysterious thrillers with a genre twist.
