Here are the movies and shows that should be on your radar this weekend (2/16):

Thanksgiving (2023). Streaming on Netflix. On Saturday, Feb. 17th Eli Roth’s latest horror movie hits Netflix! This slasher movie takes place on Thanksgiving in Plymouth, Massachusetts where local residents are terrorized by a killer in a John Carver mask. This is an exciting release as it is a pretty quick turnaround for Netflix to acquire a movie that was in theaters only a few months ago, and Thanksgiving placed near the top quarter of our ranking of over 100 horror movies released in 2023.

15 Cameras (2023). Streaming on Prime Video. The second sequel to 13 Cameras (2016) is now included in Prime. This horror movie follows a couple who purchase a house from “The Slumlord Tapes” because they are obsessed with true crime. Unsurprisingly, things go awry and the couple gets more than they bargained for.

Home for Rent (2023). Streaming on Netflix. A Thai horror movie about a couple with a young daughter who move into a condo and decide to rent out their house to a retired doctor and her adult daughter. “Inspired” by true events.

Candyman (2021). Streaming on Freevee. If you missed 2021’s “spiritual sequel” to Candyman (1992), it’s streaming free on Freevee. Cabrini Green is now gentrified and art couple Anthony (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and Bri (Teyonah Parris) move into a luxury loft. Inspired by the local urban legend, Anthony creates a gallery show called ‘Say My Name’ based on Candyman. Viewers can’t help themselves and conjure the mythical villain.

The Bridge Curse Ritual (2023). Streaming on Netflix. A Chinese university was built atop grounds where the living and dead collide. Despite the architect’s efforts to ward off evil, the university is notoriously haunted. Three students created an augmented reality game based on the urban legend and all fall into a mysterious coma. Years later, one of the student’s younger sister investigates.

The Abyss (2023). Streaming on Netflix. A Swedish thriller about a woman in charge of security for a mine whose life upends when the mine begins to collapse, threatening the lives of everyone she knows and loves when it seems like the whole town will be sucked into the abyss.
