Here are the movies and shows that should be on your radar this weekend (2/9):

Skeletons in the Closet (2024). Streaming on Shudder. A scary possession movie about a mother who allows herself to become possessed in order to save the life of her daughter. Terrence Howard and Cuba Gooding Jr star.

Here for Blood (2024). Streaming on Screambox. A babysitting/home invasion horror movie with a retro aesthetic. A pro wrestler fills in as a babysitter for his girlfriend and finds himself protecting his charge from an evil cult.

The Last Exit (2024). Streaming on Tubi. On a dark and stormy night in the Scottish Highlands, a pair of outlaw brothers seek shelter in an abandoned farmhouse. After taking the family who lives there hostage, the brothers discover more than they bargained for.

Se7en (1995). Streaming on Max. David Fincher’s perfect horror movie is back on Max. A young detective (Brad Pitt) and his seasoned partner (Morgan Freeman) investigate the gruesome crimes of a serial killer who targets his victims based on the seven deadly sins.

The Devil’s Rejects (2005). Streaming on Tubi. This sequel to Rob Zombie’s The House of 1000 Corpses follows the Firefly family as they’re on the road evading police. This is a violent, darkly funny throwback to 70s horror movies and a rare sequel that is just as good as the original.

Lover Stalker Killer (2024). Streaming on Netflix. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, this documentary tells a cautionary tale of love gone wrong. A mechanic meets a woman via online dating and she “takes romantic obsession to a deadly extreme”.

Raël: The Alien Prophet (2024). Streaming on Netflix. If you’ve never heard of a “UFO religion” buckle up. This is a limited series about Raëlism, a new religion founded by Claude Vorilhon, AKA Raël. Followers believe humanity was created by extraterrestrials and that prophets like Jesus and Muhammed were extraterrestrial/human hybrids. They have worked to build an embassy for the aliens complete with a landing pad for their spaceship. Audio/language snobs might be put off by the English dubbing (the series is French) but it’s not worse dubbing than the norm. There’s no English trailer, so you’ll have to head to Netflix to see a preview and decide whether it’s for you.
