Double Blind (2023). Streaming on Tubi. Official synopsis: “After an experimental drug trial goes awry, the test subjects face a terrifying side effect: if you fall asleep you die. Trapped in an isolated facility, panic ensues as they try to escape and somehow stay awake.”

World War Z (2013). Streaming on Netflix. Official synopsis: “Former United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) traverses the world in a race against time to stop a zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatens to destroy humanity itself.”

The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016). Official synopsis: “A father and son (Brian Cox and Emile Hirsch), both coroners, are pulled into a complex mystery while attempting to identify the cause of death of a young woman who was apparently harboring dark secrets.”

Humane (2024). Streaming on Shudder. Official synopsis: “In the wake of an environmental collapse that is forcing humanity to shed 20% of its population, a family dinner erupts into chaos when a father’s plan to enlist in the government’s new euthanasia program goes horribly awry.”

Resurrection (2022). Streaming on Hulu. Official synopsis: “Margaret’s life is in order. She is capable, disciplined and successful. Everything is under control until David returns – that is – carrying with him the horrors of Margaret’s past.”

Speak No Evil (2022). Streaming on Shudder. Dutch language with subtitles. Official synopsis: “A Danish family visits a Dutch family they met on a holiday. What was supposed to be an idyllic weekend slowly starts unraveling as the Danes try to stay polite in the face of unpleasantness.”

Note: An American remake of this Dutch film starring James McAvoy is releasing in theaters on Sept. 13. The remake looks to be very close to the original, so it’s a good time to watch the source material if you’re interested.

Nosferatu, The Vampyre (1979). Streaming on Prime Video. German language with subtitles. Official synopsis: “Count Dracula moves from Transylvania to Wismar, spreading the Black Plague across the land. Only a woman pure of heart can bring an end to his reign of horror.”

Dressed to Kill (1980). Streaming on Tubi. Directed by Brian De Palma. Official synopsis: “A mysterious blonde woman kills one of a psychiatrist’s patients, and then goes after the high-class call girl who witnessed the murder.”

Old (2021). Streaming on Peacock. Official synopsis: “A vacationing family discovers that the secluded beach where they’re relaxing for a few hours is somehow causing them to age rapidly, reducing their entire lives into a single day.”

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023). Streaming on Peacock. Official synopsis: “After Christopher Robin abandons them for college, Pooh and Piglet embark on a bloody rampage as they search for a new source of food.”
